These turkey treats are a fun Thanksgiving craft for both kids and adults! Use them to decorate the Thanksgiving table, give them for little hostess gifts, or create a bunch for some cute Thanksgiving class treats!
Turkey Treats Thanksgiving Craft
These Thanksgiving turkey treats are so easy to make and are perfect for the kids’ table at Thanksgiving {or the adult table too!}. We ended up making 25 of these little guys for Matthew’s class at school. They actually go together really quickly {especially if the kids help out!} and I think they’re SO cute! You could always wrap up the candy with Saran wrap first you wanted some extra candy protection. 🙂

Turkey Treats Tutorial
Materials
- tulle {I found some 9″ round tulle circles at the dollar store which worked perfectly!}
- Reese’s Pieces or M&Ms in fall colors
- pipe cleaners {yellow, orange, brown, and red}
- google eyes
- glue {I used Quick Grip}
- small clear hair elastics {also much cheaper at the dollar store!}
Instructions
- Place your candies in the middle of the tulle circles and secure closed with the elastic bands. Leave enough excess tulle to form the “feathers” in the back.
- To form the head, cut the brown pipe cleaner to approximately 6 inches. Roll up the pipe cleaner leaving about 2 inches at the end.
- Cut a piece of the orange pipe cleaner to form the beak {just over 1 inch} and wrap it around the outer coil of the brown pipe cleaner.
- Cut a red piece of pipe cleaner for the wattle and glue google eyes on either side of the beak.
- For the feet, cut a yellow pipe cleaner to approximately 8 inches and fold the end into three toes. Check the video below if you’re having trouble with this step.
- Now you just have to stick the body parts into your tulle and your turkey is ready to go! Easy peasy!!

That is so cute and crafty!
That is too freakin adorable!!!! Too bad Canadian Tahnksgiving has passed. 🙁
Those are so cute! They look really easy to put together as well.
Super-cute! And not just for the kiddos — I want one, too!
Very sweet – literally and figuratively! I make a fairly huge deal out of Thanksgiving, but I think you’re right about it being not quite as big a deal up here! I’ve noticed that with Halloween as well. I went down to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t believe what you could get down there for Halloween!
Those are so cute! I’m pinning them …. they’d be a great addition to the kids’ table at Thanksgiving.
oh my goodness Jenn !! those are fabulous!! you always have the most creative ideas!!!! 🙂
I don’t know how to do the feet. I need to know how to make the 3 toes.
They’re really simple – nothing fancy! If you start at the end of the pipe cleaner, the middle toe comes down and then you make the folds for the two toes on either side. These ones will fold back on themselves {so there is pipe cleaner going up the toe and down the toe} and for the last one, I kind of wrapped it around the bottom of the middle toe to hold everything in place. If things aren’t holding just twist the pipe cleaner. It sounds more complicated than it is but once you are playing around with the pipe cleaner, you will see.
so lovely and cute little Turkey. It’s not only for Halloween but it is also fit for any occasions. It can be a decoration as a stuff and I know that kids will love it.
Seattle House Cleaning
I was wondering if there was a better way to keep the pieces attached? Mine keeps falling out. 🤔
Hmmm…I’m thinking you might not have the candy pouch filled enough or secured tight enough. The pipe cleaners should sit in there securely if it’s full. If there’s lots of space between the candies then they won’t sit as securely. Otherwise, you could try keeping the pipe cleaner ends longer, but I never had any trouble with them staying in place. Hope that helps!
OH how cute! My husband LOVES Reeses pieces…this is a must make. Thanks for sharing. Found your blog on Sun Scholars…we’re making election signs over at http://thehandleyhome.blogspot.com/2012/11/an-election-sign-we-can-all-agree-on.html. Pop by and check it out. Love the blog!

Gobble Gobble! So cute!
Question… When you stick the pipecleaners into the tulle does it rip easily at that spot (I’m picturing an avalanche of Reese’s all over the floor)?
When I made something similar for “birds” I found some brown and tan netting “tulle” in a craft store in two sizes and when constructing the body, laid the larger brown down first and then the tan on top and found when adding the pipe-cleaners that there wasn’t as much tearing where they were inserted and more stable. And I also liked the look for the tail with the 2 colors. I had tried other types of candy(bigger), but the birds kept falling over, the smaller M&M type of candy works like the beans in a bean-bag. I also did a peacock, using other colors of the tulle and made a fanned tail from pipe-cleaners, curled on the ends and then glued them to the top 2/3 of a circle of foam board that I’d cut a hole in the center that I pushed the “tail tulle through so it would stand up. The pipe-cleaners extended over the edge of the circle about 1/4 inch and if I remember I ended up cutting the board where it rested on the table flat for more stability. On the Peacock don’t forget the extra short pieces of pipe-cleaner for their top knot(wrapped them around the curled head like you do the beak for the turkey. Use green, tourquoise, blue and brown pipe-cleaners for this project
Thanks for the idea! 🙂
Did you try filling with candy corn ? Wondering how they would sit.
I haven’t made them with candy corn but I’m sure they would work. You could just tap them down until the bottom was flat so they would sit how you would like.
I wasn’t going to make Thanksgiving favors this year and now I have to. These are just to cute! Thank you so much for sharing.
Awwwww – they’re so darn cute!!!!! I can just imagine the look on the kid’s faces when they see these for the first time.

You are amazing! I have not one creative bone in my body and I am trying to figure out how to make Santa, reindeer, elves or a snowman for Christmas. Any ideas?
Thanks! I’m working on a reindeer! 🙂
Hope to get info on xmas things also,turkeys were great to make can’t wait for thanksgiving
How do you glue the feet and head onto the tulle without getting glue on the candy inside?
No glue required! Just make them long and stick them in. They’ll stay in place. 🙂

Adorable, thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday! Was thinking this might work with a mix of nuts and dried cranberries and maybe just a few sweets……or just as fun table decor filled with beans!
Yes! Great idea!
Oh! Jen! Such adorable ideas!! We’d love to have you share these and others at our Dishing It & Digging It Link Party! We are live now!
Where is the video for the turkey feet?
Sorry! I’m just working on sizing it down as the file was too big to load properly on the blog. You can find the video on my FB page here…https://www.facebook.com/cleanandscentsible/videos/1617709228254684/
Cute little craft for kids to help with! Come back and visit Familly Joy Blog LInkup again. You might be featured! 🙂
Adorable! How many M&M’s did you use for each one? 1/2 Cup?
I didn’t measure exactly but I would say between 1/3rd and 1/2 a cup. 🙂
Thank you! This will be our craft for our 3rd grade classroom party! Do you think it would be more
manageable if we double the tulle? –
I don’t think you would need to double the tulle. It might even make it more difficult to have to bunch up the extra. I hope your class enjoys them!!
Thank you! I made a sample using the pre-cut tulles from the dollar store and it came out great. The kids are going to have so much fun making these!!
Are the body parts stuck inside the tulle or glued? If they’re glued- do they really stick? It seems like they wouldn’t hold very well to the fabric.
They will just stay in place with the candy – no need to glue. 🙂
I love them my grandkids love doing these for out table… Love it. I wanted to print it but theres to much advertistment to copy i just want the turkeys how can i advoid all that.. Thanks keep up the good work.
Sorry about that Peggy. I do have printable instructions for my recipes but not the craft projects. Unfortunately, I don’t think that there’s any way around it. The instructions are pretty easy though so hopefully that won’t be too much of a pain. Have fun with your grandkids!
I copied the instructions and pasted them into a word document to print. The photos were a little big, but other than that it was fine to work with. Hope that helps.
Thanks Patty!
I used wooden beads instead of the candy so that they can sit out for a long period of time without attracting ants. They came out really cute!
Cute idea! Thanks for sharing!
Where in the dollar store did you find the tulle circles? Like what section?
It was in the craft section. If your dollar store has wedding stuff, it can be in there as well.
Hi. How much tulle would you recommend to make 24 turkeys? The circles seem to be out of stock around me. Thanks.
Too bad the circles are out of stock – they make it so much quicker and easier. For the tulle, it depends on how you’re buying it. You’d need at least a 9 inch square to cut one of the rounds (maybe slightly more to have some error room). Sorry I can’t be of more help!
These are adorable! Thank you so much for sharing w us at Creative Muster! Pinned this!
